PDF is the standard for viewing electronic documents. This could be anything from a one page form or an entire book. PDF is short for Portable Document Format.  PDF is probably the best way to transfer and view any document on the Web or through e-mail. You will now find most State and Federal documents available in PDF. Once you have Acrobat Reader installed (which is already in 98% of all newer systems purchased in the past 5 years) all you need to do is click on the PDF file and it automatically opens. Yes, it is that simple. It would be wise to obtain the latest version of Acrobat Reader to take advantage of the newest features.  It's free from Adobe for any platform or operating system! (use the link below)

Using a  PDF file allows you to magnify (to make the text larger) or decrease the viewing size (to allow more text on the screen) by using the magnifying tool; or fast forward or fast return to any page in seconds by using the arrows at the bottom of the page you are viewing.  By using your own printer you can easily print 1 page, a group of pages (i.e. pgs 10 - 20) or the entire document (like my book). Printing a PDF file does not alter or change the original format.  You can also copy and paste the entire document into your favorite word processor (which does change the formatting somewhat). There are a host of other features such as the hand tool which allows you to position the page on your screen just the way you like to read.

One final word about PDF:  PDF prevents you from accidentally deleting valuable information or altering the document making it the safest portable document format on the world wide web. And the best part is it's free for any operating environment or platform.

TEST to see if you have ACROBAT READER (click here).

If not, simply go to ADOBE....
